Since our first year as members in 1990, my husband, Daken, and I have had fun sharing our thoughts and experience with the 6th graders on Sunday mornings, and later with the 3 to 5 year olds in the Religious Education classrooms. I’ve loved the children, curriculum, and other supportive team members with whom we taught. I have also enjoyed connecting with many “young-at-heart” UU seniors through Oaks & Acorns – a nonprofit I founded in 1993.
Another gratifying leadership commitment was co-chairing “Women Together” in 2005. Through the past 18 years, I’m not sure if I’m serving or being served by the Church as I learn from children and seniors, with fellow members in Promise the Children, Volunteer Simplicity, or the Dynamic Duos. I’ll have to meditate on that at the UU Buddhist Sangha… One thing I’m sure about, and it’s that I’m thrilled to be asked to be on the Nominating Committee!
