I joined the UU Church in 1996 where I have been a Lay Leader for the UU Discovery Group. I worked as a Gerontologist and Gerontological Counselor. After receiving my doctorate at the University of Florida in 1995, I returned to San Diego where I was hired by ElderHelp of San Diego as their Director of Education. After leaving Elderhelp, I opened ElderWays, a counseling service for aging persons and their families. I have served as an Ombudsman with the Area Agency on Aging (now Aging and Independent Services).
Since retiring, I have received additional training in family mediation at the National Conflict Resolution Center. In my opinion, the process of Mediation (wherein an impartial third party can assist disputing individuals to reach their own mutually acceptable settlement) can reduce, if not eliminate, conflict situations. I believe that the UU community can benefit with the addition of this service. I am honored to be asked to serve the UU church of San Diego community. Thank you.
