Ombuds Nominating Committee Candidate: Jessica North (formerly Jessica Miranti)

I have attended First UU since 1987 when I participated in a weekend with Margo Adler on Women's Spirituality. This ignited my passion for Women's Spirituality which is the focus of my uncompleted doctoral dissertation.

I joined first UU in 2004 when Arvid became Lead Minister believing as I do that he is my next important teacher on my spiritual journey. I am a member of the Worship Resource Team committed to encouraging inclusive congregant involvement in contemporary worship. I am a pantheist, believing that all worship traditions are vehicles to our understanding of and access to the divine.

As a media vet from the Vietnam Era and a fierce peace activist of 40 years, I am a student and teacher of non violence. I am a student of Mindfulness Meditation and lead women's workshops and retreats on healing, ceremonial & celebration circles, and community building. I am in private practice in Hillcrest and travel the Western States as an interventionist for Intervention 911.

I welcome the opportunity to serve my inclusive religious community as we work for a world of justice and peace.
