Nominating Committee Candidate: Mark Helders

I am a lifelong UU who was born into the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore. I have been attending First Church since 1971 and I officially became a member in 1994. I have been involved in many aspects of First Church including Children’s RE (from 1st to 6th Grade), Looking Glass Theater, Unitarian Preschool (Church Liaison), Friends of DeBenneville Pines, Ombuds Committee, YAO (Co-Chair), 20 Something’s, Jr. High Youth Group (Youth Adviser), and the Children’s Religious Education Committee.

I met and married my wife Lesleigh, who is also a lifelong member of the church, at First UU and my two daughters attend the preschool and Sunday RE. 

I look forward to serving the congregation as a Trustee because this church has been a stable second home to me throughout my entire life and I realize that it is equally important to many others. I feel that as we must support our church, our church must provide an environment that supports our congregation.
