UU Men’s Fellowship

Our mission is to support men in the quest for lives of compassion, integrity, responsibility, and balance. We are a caring, intentionally diverse brotherhood, committed to social justice, and offering opportunities for intimate sharing, personal growth, and spiritual deepening.

The Unitarian Universalist Men’s Fellowship (UUMF) is an affiliated organization of The First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego. The goal of this fellowship is to assist men in their quest to discover who they are as men, sons, fathers, grandfathers, husbands, partners, and brothers.

Each spring and fall the fellowship conducts a theme related “Renewal” Weekend. The fall weekend is held at Camp Cedar Glen a local retreat center near Julian and generally attracts men from the San Diego area whereas the spring renewal, held at Camp deBeneville Pines in the Angeles Oaks forest near Riverside, CA, is open to all the churches within the Pacific Southwest District and beyond. These events are wonderful opportunities for men to come to know more about themselves and to commune with the larger brotherhood.

Fourth Monday Discussion

On the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m., interested men meet in Room #114B (usually) between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. to discuss a wide variety of topics dealing with men’s issues. Most meetings begin with a check-in. Curran Jeffery serves as planner for these discussions and events/topics are announced via our web site and email to UUMF participants.

Support Groups

The Fellowship currently has a dozen closed committed active support groups. They usually meet twice a month at members’ homes. The groups range in size from five to eight men. If, after becoming familiar with the fellowship, you would consider membership in a group, please contact Kevin Riley, support group coordinator. These are not crisis groups and require a significant time commitment.

Steering Committee
The steering committee meets prior to the Fourth Monday meeting and as necessary. The direction of the Fellowship and upcoming events are discussed and coordinated. We work on the consensus model and welcome input from all who attend. Chris Guelich is our current convener.
