Chalice Choir

Choir, Rev. Arvid's Installation March 13, 2005

Under the direction of Dan Ratelle, our 30-member Chalice Choir provides an opportunity for individuals to develop their musical talents and to contribute to our church life in a significant way.  The Choir is comprised of a wide range of ability and age (from high school on), and presents a variety of choral music styles, which help deepend the worship experience and challenge the singer.

The Chalice Choir sings at three 9:30 a.m. Sunday Services each month as well as in outreach performances in the larger community.  One highlight is the annual Service of Music in December, often with soloists and instrumental accompaniment.  Recent offerings have included the Christmas Cantata by Daniel Pinkham, and the Carols and Lullabies of the Southwest by Conrad Susa.  This year, on December 10 (both Services), the Chalice Choir will present Benjamin Britten's beautiful Ceremony of Carols, featuring harpist Elena Mashkotseva.

The Choir rehearses September through June on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.  Interested singers are encouraged to "try a semester" by joining in September or January, or to visit a rehearsal anytime.  For more information, contact Director Dan Ratelle at dan@firstuusandiego.org or at the Music Office, 619-298-4580.
