D4$ Bidding Begins Sunday, May 5!
D4$ 2024 Summer/Fall Auction is here and it’s almost time to bid! Over 45 events and services have been created and the auction commences Sunday, May 5th in person immediately following services at Hillcrest and South Bay will continue through May 19, 2024. Help for bidding will be available on the patio after worship services every Sunday - come and see the folks at the D4$ table after service! Here’s the link to our D4$ webpage.

What is Dining for Dollar$? (D4$)
It's our semi-annual fundraising auction! If you are new to First Church you may be unfamiliar with Dining for Dollar$ (D4$). Begun in 2005, Dining for Dollar$ quickly became our most popular collection of social events given by many different hosts throughout the year. Our hosts – church members and friends just like you - offer fun, social events such as dinners, luncheons, tours, adventures, services, and workshops. This year we will hold two auctions. Auction One will take place in May for events which will be held from June through December. Auction Two will take place in December for events which will be held from January through May, 2025. Many folks have requested this format because in the past, it's been difficult to schedule something that's many months in the future; both for the hosts and for the bidders. So, we're giving this a go.
Dining for Dollar$ is built on the concept of members creating and hosting fellow church members and their families & friends for dinners, teas and picnics, museum tours with lunch, pool parties, brunches & barbecues, cooking classes, and other events. In the past, we've raised as much as $60,000 towards the church's operating budget. Above all else, D4$ events are the talk of the church throughout the year. There are many events that are hosted by our church members and friends that allow us to be together in a myriad of ways. Especially following the last couple of years of the pandemic, we are anxious to see each in smaller groups in person, safely, and you just can't beat an outdoor patio dinner with church friends, a hike in Mission Trails followed by a picnic offered by your hosts, a beach bonfire, lawn bowling at Balboa Park, and many, many fun adventures.
So, put your thinking caps on. You don't have to go it alone. Many hosts get together with friends and co-host to make the events more easy and fun to produce. Please click on the links to get some ideas. We'll be collecting events through March and part of April for bidding to happen in May.
